New Comic – Tara Normal (84 Votes)
My take on the winners.
The Phoenix Requiem is quite the comic, well deserving of it’s placement in the people’s choice, it’s worth a read and worth keeping up with.
Supporting character Hannelore from Questionable Content, .. there hasn’t been *anywhere* where Jeph Jacques even said that he was aware of this voting. Look at all those votes, it pretty much says that everyone who voted knew for sure that out of all the supporting character nomination it was clear to the majority that Hannelore was the best choice.
Author Congeniality is really hard to decide upon and Lora Innes from The Dreamer has all of the right stuff to not have any doubt that she is a great winner for this category.

Rampage Network as a winner is a little troubling, Rampage Network is a hosting with a community sure, but of those that are hosted there. The amount of support the webcomic community at a whole is not there and this winner is purely there from the popularity voting. This is not to say that the community there is bad, no it’s good .. good for the comics hosted with Rampage and Rampage Network itself is good hosting, it just doesn’t do anything for the community beyond itself. Tall Tell Radio would have been a much better winner or even The WebComic List if they were nominated.
Tara Normal as new comic, Tara Normal shouldn’t even have been anywhere close to the lead 5. There are so much better and more deserving new webcomics. Tara Normal as a comic is unoriginal, every character is a stolen idea from something else from Scooby Do to Men in Black, the artwork is meh and the dialogue will make you think of the Twilight Books. Jinkies it sucks.

You forgot to add the 1st place winner of the Antagonist category: Tychia, of Xylia. =)
Big congrats to all the winners!!!!!! <3 ^^
Thanks, added =)
Congrats to all the winners!!!!
Wow CONGRATS!!! It’s nearly a sweep for Phoenix Requiem (now I HAVE to read that comic all the way through).
Frumph…know you were frustrated with the process but it did highlight some cartoonists that I probably never would have found so in that sense, it was a success.
And congrats to all my nominees…you losers…haha j/k
Hey Phil, I know the awards didn’t go as well as you would have liked, but like Bearman said, it did highlight talent that many didn’t know about! I just want to say thank you for the efforts you put into this and for everything else you have done to support the webcomics community!!
Congrats to all the winners and the readers who read them, together you brought attention to some fine talent!
I will also add my thanks to you Phil, I know you can’t please everyone, but I thought you did a hell’uv’a'job! From moderating the nominee’s to watching for the advertised popularity vote, well done!
Congrats to the winners and to the others that were nominated! I’ve already found 10 or so more comics that I am going to have to add to my weely reading rotation!
Thanks Phil!
It’s not so much a popularity contest, but the fact that your audience is only in certain places and some of these comics nominated maybe didn’t even know or have more than two people over lap on your audience.
Either way, I applaud you for taking such pains to log people’s reasons, and thank you for allowing people to challenge your thinking about certain things.
